Having used Soliom cameras (including 4G/LTE models) across multiple properties for six years, I’ve seen this company evolve firsthand. Their latest high-end cameras and the new Soliom Home app are their best yet.

Key Improvements:

Storage Base: Very glad that you no longer need to store data on a storage card that is physically located on the camera. Changing storage cards on a highly mounted camera is not any fun. All data is now stored in a storage base.

Visuals: The resolution is incredible in both daylight and IR night vision. The color accuracy is a massive step up from previous generations.

Smart Tracking: The 360° pan/tilt combined with human tracking is seamless. I love how it automatically follows movement the moment someone enters the field of view.

Power & Efficiency: The solar panels are smaller and easier to mount, yet far more efficient. Despite a long stretch of recent cloudy winter weather, my charge never dropped below 70%—a huge improvement over older models that would occasionally go offline in the cold.

Installation: They’ve simplified the process with a slide-in bracket system that makes mounting much faster.

You get two high-performance cameras for a great price. If these are as durable as my previous Soliom units—which survived hurricanes and tropical storms— am happy.

A couple recommendations and notes:

*Depending on the level of activity, you may have to upgrade the 28GB storage card so that you do no have to delete events often.

* I have installed my cameras outside about 75ft from the router and base and I do have any issues connecting to the base. No connectivity loss - the CAT-5 connection helps.

* To maximize your field of view in a large yard, consider mounting the camera on a corner using an extended wooden mount. Getting it slightly away from the house's flat walls allows the 360° pan-and-tilt to cover much more area with zero blind spots. In my rural setting, i have installed mine on trees facing the house.

I decided to upgrade my outside home perimeter security in addition to my Blink cameras. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before ordering these. I wanted cameras that I did not have to run power to and that would auto-track. These are solar powered and have auto-tracking. One must charge these completely before installing them for best results. The solar panels can screw directly into the tops of the camera mounts, or you can mount them separately. The cords to the panels are of sufficient length for most any mounting requirements. The video quality is very good. The auto-tracking works quite well. They were already paired with the home base/hub. The app is pretty straightforward and mostly user friendly. It’s easy to download and share videos. You are limited to a maximum of 60 seconds of video, but that’s what you deal with using a solar powered system as opposed to a hard-wired system providing continuous power. There are many settings that help you to tweak your preferences. While reviewing a video clip, you can use your finger to circle a face or person or object, and it will temporarily magnify that circled area. You can have each camera sleep for times that you might be outside, etc. The cams have microphones for conversations. There are settings for causing security lighting to illuminate during an event. It just takes some time to go through and choose your preferences. The instructions are pretty good. Thus far, I have had great success with notifications being almost instantaneous. For the price and ease of installation, this is a very good system. Especially for someone like me that doesn't want to try to run power cords and cables everywhere.

A few things I did not like that this system lacks. You are limited to 4 cameras. There is no adding additional cameras later. This will take additional base units. There are no settings to eliminate some zones. This is sometimes tricky in getting a camera set just right in order to capture people or vehicles coming onto your property while eliminating the captures of passing vehicles and people. There is no way to have these cameras to be viewed on a separate monitor. You are limited to your phone/tablet via the app. In the app (I provided a screenshot), under the “Security” tab and titled “Scene”, you are given options of HOME, AWAY, and DISARM. Once you have chosen one of these options, the setting beside each device initially changes to your selection. If you change your selection again while in that same tab, the changes are not reflected until you close and reopen the app, or you switch back and forth between tabs.

I would give this system 4.5 stars but am rounding up for the review.

Overall 4.8/5 I' ve been using Soliom solar cellular cameras for my business clients where we just cannot get power and/or network. So I preconceived expectations for the new home line of cameras, but I wanted to test them out. I’m happy to say I am not disappointed so far. Download the SoliomHome app and register an account. You can be setup with app and network hub in less than 15 minutes. Everything needed is included in the kit (network hub, cameras, solar panels, batteries, memory cards, mounting screws). I have my hub between 75 - 100 feet away from the cameras and they’ve not dropped connection yet.

Pros:

- easy setup 5/5. Even if you have no network knowledge, it couldn’t get easier than plugging in power and a network cable. The cameras are preconfigured to connect to the hub.

- picture quality 4.5/5. These are 5MP cameras and although they do not zoom, the digital zoom when pinching the screen allows for up 8x zoom. One attached pic shows a fence zoomed in from 75 feet away.

- value for money 5/5. This is a 4 camera kit with network hub for $320. You won' t find a better value in my opinion. Not only are the cameras wireless that connect to the included hub, but they are solar powered and charge a preinstalled battery. Also includes preinstalled memory card for recording.

- cameras are easy to mount and configure. Still messing with some settings to see what I like best, however you can not only do motion detection. It will detect motion, people, vehicles. You can set it up to track the movement allowing the camera to follow the person moving around.

- features a neat panoramic view of the camera view. This allows you to tap anywhere in the panoramic image and the camera will move to that position.

Cons:

- No physical lens zoom

- Solar panel cable is really long if mounting direct to the camera.

First the positives: 4k resolution is super clear and easy to make out details. The app is fairly user friendly, and paid no subscription or ads. However, detection is very slow and often miss events. Even when set on maximum sensitivity and max power, the cameras will only record about 20-30 seconds after it should have been triggered and by then the actions recorded become useless. 2 of my camera's have trouble connecting with the base despite our large mesh wifi coverage. Too many issues render this system useless to my needs. I tried contacting support via the webchat and the phone number but was not able to get any live person to help. I would not recommend this system.

I've taken back so many camera's back untill I came across this one. Easy set up and no bombardment of constant adds topush to a subscription love it.

The resolution of the camera is not able to read the licence plate of cars going by from 40 - 50 ft away. But is pretty clear to identify people.

I'm keeping it but I am not impressed. It misses the reason I bought the system in the first place. I haven't been able to capture who is walking their dog and not picking up the poop on my front lawn several times now. I have changed the detection zone, default view and car/people and pet detection modes around without success. Note: with the vehicle detection on, it catches every car that goes by. this make a lot of clips to review when looking for something in particular.

I have bought I different different brands of cameras and this brand has been great they don't harass you on wanting you to buy into their cloud you can use a SD card and save all your videos very good I would buy them again

I have made multiple purchases of these Soliom solar cameras. They were easy to install and connect to the home base and WiFi. Since then, they still work wonderfully and provide great security - we have many protecting our property and home. The videos are clear and accessing everything on their app is easy. Pretty cool too that their view can rotate 360 degrees. I just saw too that they have an interior camera that attaches to an inside window and think I may place an order for one of them also to try it out. Other interior cameras from other companies that we have don't do well when nighttime falls as they reflect back and are basically useless looking outside at night but I think that the one from Soliom will do the trick. Would recommend their camera systems without hesitation.

After a deeper and more thorough review of the Soliom system. Overall, this is almost a perfect system at a very affordable price. The hub base is a great extra safety feature because all your data is stored locally, so even if a camera were stolen, your recordings remain safe. There are no hidden subscription fees required for the primary functions, which is something I appreciate.

Motion notifications are one of the strongest parts of the system. They pop up quickly, the sensitivity is excellent, and you get notified within seconds, which is extremely important for real‑time awareness. This is separate from the live‑view feature. Live view allows you to watch up to four cameras at once, which is very useful, but it is currently limited to 15 minutes. The notifications themselves work flawlessly and give you immediate awareness of activity.

Cross‑cam detection is another standout feature. When an event occurs, the system automatically runs the videos from both cameras, giving you a complete and convenient playback without needing to manually select each clip unless you want to. Motion tracking is also solid. The camera stays on the moving object smoothly and returns to its default position afterward. Video quality is good, the app is easy to navigate, and the core functions like recording, notifications, and image quality are very reliable for the price. Two‑way talk is clear and loud on both sides. Overall, the hub, the motion detection, and the general performance of the system are strong. This is really a 4.5-star system, and I’m rounding it up to 5 because the core features are excellent and only minor adjustments are needed

There are a few suggestions that would make this system perfect. When you tap a motion notification, it currently takes you to the home screen of the app. It would be better if you could choose to go directly into live view immediately from the activity pop‑up notification so you can see what is happening right away, or choose to go directly to the recording. It would also be helpful to have a full‑day playback option where you can run all videos from a selected date automatically, either from earliest to latest or starting from the most recent, without having to click each event individually.

Recording duration could be more flexible. Right now the auto‑record options are 20 seconds or 60 seconds. This is not ideal because you end up watching extra footage that isn’t needed, and it wastes time. It would be much better if the system could automatically record only the actual length of the event, even if it’s just a few seconds, using some form of AI‑based auto‑trim.

The live‑view streaming limit of 15 minutes is inconvenient for situations where you want continuous monitoring, like watching kids play outside. Even increasing the limit to one or two hours would be a major improvement, and battery usage should be left to the customer’s choice. It would also be nice to see Soliom add indoor cameras to their product line in the future.

Overall, the core features of the Soliom system are very good. With a few adjustments to playback options, recording flexibility, a longer live‑view duration, and the ability to jump straight into live view from notifications, this could easily become a perfect camera system.

I have been using this system for a year and I like it. It was easy to set up. One camera must have a bad battery. It goes off line at night. It started this after a few months of use. Videos are good quality. You can hear what is going on and talk to people near the camera.

The video quality is excellent. The cameras often does not detect an event. The WIFI signal is strong. A weak WIFI is not the problem. It appears that the motion has to fill a large area of the field of view to work. A car or truck driving in my driveway often does not even trigger event detection. No motion tracking will take place if the camera system does not detect an event even if the object is big. I have the sensitivity turned up to maximum. Dogs, vehicles, and people are highlighted. I have not given up. I am researching how to fix the detection of an event problem.

In the short time I've owned this, I can absolutely say, THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING! I'm not a super tech savvy individual but in no time flat, I was able to easily follow the included instructions to get this system up and running. The quality of the picture is wonderful for home use. I was originally concerned that the wiFi cameras would eat up too much bandwidth of my average home internet service. This has not been the case and everything is still running as it should. The distance I wanted to place these outside and away from my router was also a concern, but again, no problem! It was easy to walk the camera to the location I planned to install it and check the app for connectivity. The app features (while not completely intuitive) are extensive. Every time I've thought I wish it could do x, I poke around the app and there's the feature I hoped for! The website answers most questions that may not be addressed in the included pamphlets. I did have one need to contact customer service and their response time and level of care was fantastic!! I've even managed (by following some online instructions) to get the app to work on my desktop. Now I have a second monitor running that allows me to view everything in real time from my office. The battery seems to be lasting okay on cameras, even though we haven't had a lot of sun of late. The motion detection seems spot on with appropriate sensitivity, although sometimes there is a short lag between when I know an event occurred and when I get notification on the phone. The system is still new to me, but I'm truly impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product.
