Soliom Home Face Recognition Privacy Notice
Effective Date: April 15, 2026
Version: V1.0
1. Feature Overview
Certain Soliom Home smart security devices offer an optional face recognition feature (the “Feature”).
When enabled, the Feature uses on-device artificial intelligence technology to analyze faces detected within the camera’s field of view and classify them as either:
• “Known Face”
• “Unknown Face”
The Feature is turned off by default and can only be activated manually through the Soliom Home App.
2.Data Processed
(A) Biometric Data
The Feature may process the following biometric data:
• facial images captured by the device; and
• encrypted mathematical representations of facial characteristics, sometimes referred to as facial templates.
(B) Non-Biometric Data
The Feature may also process the following non-biometric data associated with recognition events:
• the date and time of recognition;
• the recognition result, such as “Known Face” or “Unknown Face”;
• any name or label assigned by the user; and
• related video event history.
Soliom Home uses this non-biometric data solely to:
• provide notifications;
• maintain recognition history and related event history; and
• support and improve the performance of the Feature.
3. How the Feature Works
When the Feature is enabled:
• the device generates a mathematical representation of a detected face, sometimes referred to as a facial template;
• the system compares that facial template against face profiles associated with your account;
• if no match is found, the face is classified as “Unknown Face”;
• you may choose to add an unknown person to your Known Face Library; and
• recognition results may be associated with recorded video events in the Soliom Home App.
The Feature is intended solely to help users distinguish familiar and unfamiliar individuals in a household setting and to organize related event records.
The Feature is not designed or intended for:
• identity authentication;
• government identification;
• legal or official identity verification; or
• law enforcement purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
• Facial templates created for the Feature are encrypted and stored securely in the cloud.
• Data transmitted between your device, the Soliom Home App, and our servers is protected using industry-standard encryption protocols, including HTTPS/TLS.
• Soliom Home does not sell biometric data and does not disclose biometric data to third parties except as necessary to provide the Feature or as required by applicable law.
• Biometric data is processed solely for the purpose of providing and supporting the Feature.
• If you delete a face profile, the associated biometric data will be permanently deleted in accordance with applicable law and our data retention practices.
5. User Controls
Through the Soliom Home App, you may:
• enable or disable the Feature;
• manage your Known Face Library;
• delete individual face profiles or delete all face profiles; and
• manage your notification preferences.
If you disable the Feature:
• the device will no longer perform face recognition processing; and
• you may delete any face profiles through the Soliom Home App.
6. Important Legal Notice
You are responsible for your use of the Feature and for complying with applicable privacy, data protection, and biometric data laws in your jurisdiction.
Depending on where you use the device, your responsibilities may include:
• providing notice to visitors, guests, or other individuals captured by the device, where required by law;
• obtaining consent or other valid authorization where required by law; and
• ensuring that any collection, use, storage, or disclosure of biometric data is lawful.
The collection, storage, or sharing of biometric data without appropriate notice, consent, or other legal basis may violate applicable law or the privacy rights of others.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or request the deletion of such data.
If you have questions about your rights or need assistance, please contact us using the contact information provided in the Soliom Home Privacy Policy.
8. Regional Legal Restrictions
The collection and processing of biometric data may be restricted or subject to specific legal requirements in certain jurisdictions. For example, some U.S. states, including Illinois under the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), impose additional obligations relating to biometric data.
Where prohibited by applicable law, or where required legal conditions cannot be met, the Feature may be unavailable, limited, or disabled in your region.
For more information about the personal data collected through Soliom Home devices and services, as well as your rights and responsibilities, please the review Soliom Home Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
